Congress frequently delegates authority to agencies to regulate particular aspects of society, in general or broad terms. However, in a number of decisions, the Supreme Court has recently declared that if an agency seeks to decide an issue of major national significance, its action must be supported by clear congressional authorization. This confirmation is a critical piece of the post-settlement puzzle. This letter continues NAR\u2019s efforts to engage the GSEs and regulators to provide near-term clarity to the market and members. This effort is one of several focused on supporting mortgage finance for buyers in the post-settlement environment. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nar.realtor\/washington-report\/nar-and-mba-urge-gses-and-regulators-to-confirm-support-for-buyer-financing\">Read More\u2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/narfocus.com\/billdatabase\/clientfiles\/172\/3\/4851.pdf\">Download NAR\u2019s Letter to the GSEs<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>NAR Submits Comments to Veterans Affairs on Allowable Fees<\/h3>\n<p>NAR submitted a letter to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), urging the agency to revise its policies pertaining to fees veterans cannot pay when using their VA home loan benefit. Under VA policies,\u00a0veterans using the home loan benefit\u00a0are prohibited from compensating their professional representative directly. This puts VA buyers at a disadvantage in situations where offers of compensation are not offered from a seller, potentially forcing them to forego professional representation, choose a different loan product, or exit the market entirely.<\/p>\n<p>NAR wants to ensure veterans maintain their access to the VA home loan program, which has been a significant tool\u00a0in\u00a0helping service members achieve the American dream of homeownership. Please continue to bring any questions you have regarding the settlement agreement to Victoria Givens, your lobbyists or your political directors.<\/p>\n<h3>NAR Meets with DOL on Fair Labor Standards Act, Final Rule is Effective<\/h3>\n<p>The U.S. Department of Labor&#8217;s (DOL) final rule regarding how workers are classified under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)\u00a0took effect on\u00a0March 11, 2024.\u00a0 In March, NAR met with officials at the U.S. Department of Labor\u2019s Wage and Hour Division to discuss the\u00a0recent\u00a0rule and its impact on the real estate industry.\u00a0 The meeting focused on the rule\u2019s adoption of the economic realities test, and how the test could impact how real estate professionals are classified. These reports contain housing and real estate data that you can use to advocate for our policies on the Hill. They provide information about the status of homeownership, trends in the real estate market, and the economic conditions that underlie the demand for housing overall.<\/p>\n<h3>FPC Travel Stipend for RLM<\/h3>\n<p>Every year, Federal Political Coordinators are afforded a $1000 stipend to defray travel costs to the REALTORS\u00ae Legislative Meetings.
