Advocacy Priorities Front and Center in Anaheim<\/a><\/h3>\n

Thousands of REALTORS\u00ae gathered in Anaheim last week to Own the Moment at NAR NXT, The REALTOR\u00ae Experience<\/a>. Attendees packed the room at Monday\u2019s Advocacy Scoop to hear the latest on the association\u2019s priorities and successes at the local, state, and national levels. [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”5\/6″][vc_column_text]NAR joined the Mortgage Bankers Association and the National Association of Home Builders in early October to send a\u00a0letter<\/a>\u00a0to Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, declaring further rate increases could invite a recession.\u00a0NAR has been proactive in raising awareness of the detrimental impacts of 23-year-high mortgage rates on an already strained housing market.<\/p>\n

10K<\/a><\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”5\/6″][vc_column_text]NAR hosted an\u00a0Affordable Workforce Housing Symposium<\/a>\u00a0on October 10 in Columbus, Ohio. The CHIPS and Science Act has unleashed tremendous investment in the Columbus metro area, with the potential to create more than 3,000 new direct jobs and 7,000 construction jobs. The event included three panel discussions comprised of participants from federal agencies, local businesses, and community leaders on how to ensure this economic growth is sustainable for the region and its workforce.<\/p>\n

5.5M<\/a><\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”5\/6″][vc_column_text]NAR praised the White House’s Action to Create More Affordable Housing by Converting Commercial Properties to Residential Use<\/a> when it released the plan at the end of October. \u201cAmerica is facing a more than $4 trillion underinvestment in housing that has left us short some 5.5 million homes,\u201d said NAR President Tracy Kasper. \u201cWith many office buildings sitting empty, converting underused commercial space into multifamily housing is an innovative, tangible, and sensible solution that will also address housing affordability, which is currently at a historic low.\u201d<\/p>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”5\/6″][vc_column_text]NAR unveiled a state flood disclosure tracker<\/a> in November, working with the Legal Research Center to conduct a complete, thorough, and accurate survey of existing disclosure requirements in all 50 states and D.C. The tracker aims to educate the public and Congress as it considers legislative proposals to reform the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).<\/p>\n

RPAC has 9,625 Major Investors, 1,907 President\u2019s Circle members, and a 35% participation rate.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”The REALTOR\u00ae Party At Work” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Arizona REALTORS\u00ae Rally to Repeal Regressive Rental Tax<\/a><\/h3>\n

Arizona rental households had been paying an average of $51 per month in transaction privilege taxes, a burden that negatively affected the state\u2019s property managers and renters alike. With housing affordability an increasing concern, Arizona REALTORS\u00ae redoubled their efforts to successfully repeal the tax with support from an Issues Mobilization Grant<\/a> from the REALTOR\u00ae Party.<\/p>\n

A REALTOR\u00ae Party Fair Housing Grant<\/a> helped the Royal Palm Coast REALTOR\u00ae Association conduct a symposium on serving clients with special needs. The event\u2019s speakers \u2013 a REALTOR\u00ae focused on helping clients with disabilities and a builder specializing in barrier-free housing \u2013 shared what it means to offer proper standards of care to those whose abilities differ from their own.<\/p>\n
